Small Group Leader Development

The best way we as small group leaders can assure that our groups will be healthy is by continually investing in our own spiritual development and relationship with Jesus; and secondly by sharpening our leadership skills.  We provide regular opportunities for our leaders to work on both and our expectation is that each leader will take advantage of these opportunities regularly.   

Initial Training

Initially all GRACE Group Leaders, Co-Leaders, Apprentices, and Candidates should attend our two half-day training workshopsat their next offering.

"Leader Training 101 - A Place to Belong" is where we look at how we can best create an environment that will foster community and make folks feel like they have connected in a meaningful way to those in their small group.

"Leader Training 201 - A Place to Become" is where we explore what it means to be a mature Disciple of Christ. We talk about the steps we can personally take towards that goal as well as how we can best take those in our group along with us.

Group Leader Training Workshops

Twice a year, in MARCH and OCTOBER, we hold Group Leader Training Workshops for all small group leaders. It is a time for leaders to improve their skills, deepen their relationship to God, and learn from other small group leaders.

Community Coaches

Small Group Coaches are being developed to work hand-in-hand with Small Group Leaders at Grace. Their role is as an encourager, a prayer partner, and an equipper for Small Group Leaders. Coaches and Leaders will interact together regularly to assure the success and health of each and every GRACE Group.

Grace Leadership Summit

Grace Community Leadership Summit is a churchwide leadership program that explores the character and skills needed by every leader. This Friday Night/Saturday workshop in January is done alongside other Grace ministry leaders. During this training weekend senior leadership reveals the ministry direction for Grace's coming year. We highly recommend that all small group leaders take advantage of this great training event..

Other Training

We take advantage of national small group leader training opportunities when they are made available. This exposes our coaches and leaders to some of the best small group leadership training available in the world. Many of our leaders invest in their group by attending these conferences.

Don't Lead Alone

We hope every group leader will share the leadership of the group with as many group members as possible. Don't carry all the weight yourself. Share the blessing with others. Begin to identify each member's strengths and gifts and ask them to lead the group in those areas. Invest in your group by bringing as many people along as possible to training opportunities. The healthiest groups are always raising up new leaders. The best new group leaders come from existing healthy groups.
